Ares Morningstar is a hunter-killer LAV designed by Ares to compete with "tank-killer" helos &
ground-attack aircraft. The Morningstar relies heavily on missile armaments, using guns only for
self-defense against helicopters and troops.
The Morningstar is powered by two powerful Pratt & Witney turbines and takes advantage of WIG
(Wing-In-Ground effect) for forward flight close to the ground. A remote micro-turret beneath
the nose mounts a heavy machinegun for close-range anti-personel support, and a crew-manned
medium turret in the back mounts a pair of Bofors 9mm high-deflection anti-air guns. The
Morningstar's primary armament is mounted on 8 external mounts beneath the wings and directed
by a sensor MAST just behind the pilot's compartment.

An early foray by Augusta-Kazan into the vectored thrust market during the Eurowars - the Angelus had massively
over-powered turbines to lift its armored body but unfortunately neglected to armor the turbines themselves.
The exposed turbines drew enemy fire easily and countless lives were lost before the Angelus was pulled from
the battlefield. A few of these craft can now be found as high-speed cargo transports - their exposed engines
make for easy tinkering and while the weaponry has been stripped from these models, the turret mountings have
mostly been left, making it easy to retrofit them with weapons.

The Lobo LAV is classified as a scout but its heavy armor and armament allow it to take care of itself
in combat with craft w3ell out of its class. The Lobo debued in the UCAS and models have been purchased
by several corps and paramilitary organizations within the last few years.
The larger medium turret on the Lobo permits heavier main weaponry to be aimed independent of direction
of travel. While not as stealthy as the GMC Banshee, the Lobo makes up in weight of armor carried for
sheer survivability.

A rarity, the Stonewall MBT is a heavy T-Bird even larger than Aztechnology's Lobo Medium
Scout LAV. Primary armament is the new Ares EG-200 kinetic light rail-gun system in a large
turret with a secondary Ares Firelance vehicle laser with anti-aircraft capabilities in a
small turret atop the main turret. External missile and rocket racks, or twin RPV pods
are available and unconfirmed reports indicate the prescence of a perimeter anti-personnel
system, possibly a modification of the smart armor system that layers the hull of this beast.
The whole vehicle is held aloft by two massive Rolls-Royce gas turbines that feed into vents
beneath the hull and are contained by the ground effect wings on either side. RCS thrusters
on the rear give this T-bird surprising manueverability for its mass.

The Banshee is a light reconaissance T-bird that mounts a remote-controlled medium-sized
turret in a standard center deck configuration, with the main weapon on the right and an
enclosed missile launcher on the left. A mini-turret in the back provides anti-aircraft
capabilities, with a high-angle heavy 6-barreled rotary minigun (Ares Vindicator) and
advanced sensor control for the weapon that allows it to intercept incoming missiles and
rockets with the stream of bullets. Two drone racks in the back give the scout version
additional eyes and ears.
Inside the vehicle is divided up into a forward compartment for the pilot and gunner,
and a central fighting compartment with a heavy armored sliding panel between the two
that can be locked from the driver's compartment. In the Scout configuration, the
central section contains four individual bucket seats and command and control stations
for the two drone racks and extra sensor operator stations.

More often used for security patrols or deployed against unauthorized aircraft in claimed
airpsace or no-fly zones, the GMC Harpy Scout is somewhat miscategorized as a "scout". The

The BMV 2 corrected many of the problems of the BMV-1, Russia's first LAV during the Euro-Wars. The BMV 1 had
exposed thrust-vectoring ports, making them notoriously easy to detect and target with aerial scanners. The BMV 2
was retired from service in the 2050s, but can still be found in many merc forces and Thrid World governments
around the world.

The M379 Remus is a main battle tank (MBT) designed for high end engagements on the battlefield.
Using vectored thrust as it’s main propulsion, the M379 bring high firepower and mobility to the
battlefield with GE 4455 vectored thrust engines and a maximum speed of 1,000 kph. Thermal baffles
are fitted to reduce the thermal output of the engines. A noticeable feature is the two protrusions,
or sometimes referred to as "barges" unofficially. These provide the space for the drone rack and
the Ballista systems mounted. It also serves as the storage for other necessities, such as crew
supplies, since bustle racks are not fitted. Spare ammunition is also provided, as well as tools
and diagnostic equipment for repairs in the field.
The crew consists of three people, the Tank Commander/Gunner, the Pilot, and either a MSO (Magical
Support Officer) or a drone rigger. Tank Commander/Gunner sits in the turret, and operates the
vehicles weaponry. The Pilot sits on the right front, and controls the vehicle, and also operates
the M24 Mine Defensive System (MDS) located on both sides and rear of the vehicle. The third crew
position is in the left front and is supplied with fiber optics covering 360 degrees around the
vehicle and 180 degrees overhead. Crash cages, EnviroSeal w/ overpressure, and ten hours life
support per crewmember are installed in conjunction with individual ejection seats for maximum
crew survivability.
|
A hanger stores ten M117 DRCS drones behind the right gear, which can function as spotters using
Battletac FDDM. A topside hanger stores a single Wolfhound UAV. The Remus is typically armed with
a light railgun with a Victory Rotary Autocannon mounted alongside. These are flanked by a Lorel-Vought
Sharpshooter four cell SAM system & an eight cell Saeder-Krupp MOdel 408 launcher - which serves
as the main armament for the Remus. Both the missile systems are hypervelocity, requiring direct LOS,
but almost eliminating the window for interception before their targets - reducing target countermeasure
effectiveness.

The largest LAV built to date, the Ruhrmetall Behemoth keeps itself aloft with eight Rolls-Royce
Olympus Turbofan vectored thrust engines with a combination of ground effect and vector thrust
drive lending it unparalleled mobility. An 80mm-Gauss Cannon forms its main armament, with four
turrets equipped with dual light railguns as secondary armament. The doubled light railguns increase
the firing rate of each turret to one round each combat phase.

Massive engines and the elimination of turrets enables this medium T-Bird impressive maneuverability
and speed, which it needs in order to bring its twin fixed-mount medium rail guns to bear on the target.
The recoil is such that both cannons must be fired simultaneously. A small explosive charge starts the
projectile moving and vents out the rear to counteract the momentum imparted to the depleted uranium slugs
when the cannons are fired.
The Gugnir features external ablative armor plates that can be added to the outside of the hull.
These armor plates are relatively lightweight and do not degrade performance, but make the craft
much more bulky - limiting mobility within urban environments and are thus only seen on units
deployed on open land.

The Sleipnir takes advantage of WIG (Wing-In-Ground effect) for forward flight close to the ground

The Kestral is a light, one-man vectored thrust gunship slated for anti-infantry and rapid fire suppression. The Kestral is constructed
around a single cockpit with rapid-fire grenade launchers on top, a pair of ducted turbofans to either side, and a pair of 10cm rocket
pods built into landing skids that double as gunner platforms. The Kestral can rapidly transport a pair of infantry this way about the
battlefield, as a hovering gun platform expressly designed for "shoot and scoot" firefights. The Kestral features a TADS (Target

The Copperhead is an agile armored troop transport with the capability to insert up to two squads of troops anywhere on the

The Copperhead includes highly advanced Electronic Countermeasures and Electronic Deception as well as RAM coatings, in
an attempt to reduce its signature. However, the heat signature of the tilt-engine turbines is impossible to mask. The turbines
give it unparalleled speed and acceleration, and a deft pilot can utilize its fly-by-wire system to pull impressive evasive stunts.
