The Life of William Hudson

William Richard Hudson was born July 2nd, 2033 in a largely Chinese neighborhood of Vancouver.  His mother was a bartender and he never knew his father.  Ms. Hudson did her best to raise her son alone, SINless, and white in a largely Chinese neighborhood.  Bored and angry, Billy ran the streets at night, just another teenaged thug.  At fourteen he joined a gang with strong Triad connections.  Most of the time, they did typical gang stuff, but occasionally a few of the older, wilier members were given special tasks for the Triad.  Eventually, Billy reached the point where his ability was impossible to ignore despite his complexion.   Then someone assensed him and discovered that the young man was a physical adept, and he was promptly welcomed into the organization.  The next few years, he started to climb the ranks, and saved up enough to keep his mother comfortable for a long time.   At the age of twenty, he looked around and realized that all the magic in the world wouldn't change the fact that he wasn't Chinese, and was running out of room to move up, so he left, breaking every vow and pledge he'd make to the Triad.  Before he left, he sold them out to the Mafia, in exchange for help getting out of Vancouver, and protection for his mother.  He gave her a hug, then left.

When he arrived in Seattle, he found that while the Mafia appreciated his help, they didn't trust him enough to bring him into the Family.   Alone in a city he didn't know, Hudson strolled into a DocWagon franchise and asked for an application.  As part of the application process, he was assensed, and yet another organization discovered hat he was a physical adept. They hired him on the spot, despite his lack of medical skill or even a valid SIN, valuing his innate abilities over any sort of administrative roadblock.  Will then spent the next two years of his life working High Threat Response for DocWagon.  Then he got a phone call from a corporation called BUCM, a London based corporation drawn in the lines of DocWagon.   Seeking a change of scenery, and afraid the Triads might be getting too close, he accepted the job and moved to London.

When he got to London, he found that the brownstone the company had rented for him was already occupied.  The resident was Tink, a homeless teenaged elven girl.  Since she knew the city, and he didn't he agreed to let her stay if she would play tour guide for him.  After a few months, he fell in love with her, and was even considering asking her to marry him. 

Then came the idol.  Jonathon Hawksmore, a local talismonger was in middle of tracking down a blood magic cult.  He asked Billy to sneak into a cult member's home n search of evidence.  What Billy found was an item of unspeakable power.  During the ritual to find the idol's owner, a few members of the cult attacked.  In the ensuing chaos, Tink touched the idol, subconsciously reaching out to it for protection.  It answered, imbuing her with huge power, but cursing her in the process.  Aided by the idol, she demolished the attacking cult members, but damned herself in the process.  Flying into a rage, Hudson demanded that Hawk help him save her, and the two immediately began a difficult astral quest to free the young girl from the statuette.  Unfortunately, the task proved too difficult, and the ritual led to Tink's death.

Her death left Hudson a bitter, angry, isolated young man.   Two weeks later, he snapped in the middle of a medical extraction and threw another medic from a speeding ambulance.  This spelled the end of his career as an EMT, and Hudson went back to the crime ridden streets he'd grown up with.

Will is 5'11" and weighs 93 kg. He has dirty blond hair which is usually going wherever it pleases, and extremely dark brown eyes. He has sharp, chiseled features, and a slight bend in the tip of his nose from a long forgotten brawl. He always has either a cigarette in his mouth or a pinch of dip under his lower lip. He prefers a beat up pair of jeans and a t-shirt most of the time, but will pull on his 3/4 length synth-leather armored jacket.

He's got two platinum rings in his left ear that originally resided in Tink's navel.  A gang member pulled one out once, and Hudson proceeded to beat the man to death with a trash can.

• Hawksmore: Elven Talismonger. He owns a shop near the Temple. Handed down the prediction of doom that eventually manifested in Tink's death.
• Kilgoure: Former BUCM employee. He now runs a small clinic in the Squeeze.  He lost his Board Certification and his cushy corporate job when an investigative reporter discovered a conspiracy involving organleggers supplying organ donations for BUCM patients.
• Duct Tape: London Fixer.
• Malice: Aztechnology executive in England trying to buy out smaller corporations to establish an Aztechnology presence in the UK.  He hired Hudson on Duct Tape's word, and was satisfied with the young man's work.  He now comes to Hudson for most of his irregular errands.
• Kierwyn Renald: Kierwyn is Hawksmore's assistant, and a fledgling physical mage.  When he returned from the astral quest cradling Tink's dying body in his arms, she wrestled the gun from his hands twice, stopping him from killing Hawk, and himself. It's something that they don't talk about, but neither has forgotten.   Hudson will never admit it, but he's eternally grateful.
• Tino: This large dwarf runs a bar in the Squeeze where Hudson goes to drown his sorrows.
• Tanya Rubrick: Ms. Rubrick is the director of Human Resources for BUCM.  She and Hudson still keep in touch, though they drifted apart in the chaotic months right after Tink's death.  Now that Hudson is starting to get himself back together, they're back to being friends.
• Ian Riddick Quayle: IRQ is a professional net snoop.  He and Hudson met during a job for Malice.
