Quotes

I've told you before that I dislike wet work.
I mean any one can break another person. where the real skill lies is
learning how to mess with someone and never have them realize you did
anything.

HISTORY
Part 1. (told from the perspective of Alexander Stone) targets
approximate age 0-5
Subject 13(Name), was born in Vancouver to a young couple (their names
are of no importance) who were at the time held in fairly high regard
by the *insert head of chosen organization*. It was not till Subject
13 was about two years of age that the falling out came to pass. But I
shall not bore you with the details of that little episode. The
important thing was that the head of our project had noticed that
Subject 13 had the genetic potential we had been looking for and now
that he was no longer under the protection of the *insert head of
chosen organization* we moved quickly to secure that asset. Of course
his parents were less than understanding so we had to have them dealt
with first. After that it all seemed to be going smoothly: we started
with the basic modifications primarily on the reflexes but with a few
others just to keep it balanced. Then about 9 months into the project
Subject 13 started developing some side effects which we had not seen
in any of the previous subjects, for instance; loss of most pigment
from his body hair resulting in a silvery white colour, sense of smell
weakening, and a complete shift from the normal daytime rhythm of
most metahumans, to such a degree that even if we forced him into
activity during the day he would still remain up all night and sleep
only during the daylight hours. In addition he did not develop any of
the crippling or fatal side effects the we had seen in all the
previous subjects, which lead us to believe (quite correctly as you
have just told me) that we might have finally found a balance. Sadly
we never got to finish our tests as approximately 3 years into the
project we suffered what is best described as an armed robbery. A
group of what we later learned were shadowrunners infiltrated and
stole not only key research but on their way out the young lady who
had done the initial infiltration of our staff also took Subject 13.
Three more prime subjects came and went, each one suffering a severe
breakdown at one point or another during the process. After that half
of all funding was diverted to a retrieval effort of which I was the
head until very recently when we suffered a major loss. After tracking
Subject 13 for about 14 years we finally managed to not only locate
but capture him as well, only to have him escape with the help of some
local gangers. During the process he (or someone helping him) managed
to steal or erase all of the amassed data we had on him and his
habits. The result of this fiasco was my removal from the project,
which would be why I am here talking to you. Now about my fee....

Part 2. (told from the perspective of Pfeifer/Anita FrŸhling) targets
approximate age 5-9
So he calls himself Callidus now does he? Back when he was with us
most of the team called him Frosty because of his hair. so I guess
it's to be expected that he would change it and it makes sense that it
would be Latin he spent an awful lot of time reading Nico's books and
Nico was the only one who didn't ever call him by the standard
nickname. Oh Nico or *street name* was the team mage and being old
Catholic thought everything should be in Latin. so he was overjoyed
when he found someone who was willing to learn enough of the language
to talk to him in it. Of course the member of the team Callidus spent
more time with than anyone else was the one who gave him his nickname,
Jon or Monkey-wrench, who was the team B&E guy. He was a small guy
from Kitimat who could get in or out of anything as well as jury-rig
just about whatever he needed out of whatever he had lying around.
Fairly shy, though he seemed to really like having an attentive little
apprentice. Callidus was always quick to pick up anything Jon tried to
teach him, though he never managed to pick up Jon's jury-rigging
knack. Over all he was a good kid, though no one could ever get him to
tell the truth. He always edited the details whenever he answered a
question or told a story. Still we kept him with us for about 4 years.
First year was a little tricky but the run we picked him up on was
really lucrative so we managed to work around having a kid at the
house. He was pretty easy to take care of anyways, so it went fairly
smoothly. Year two we were doing a bunch of related runs on the east
coast, mostly in and around Fredericton,so we were basing out of a
safe house in the same neighbourhood that Jackelyn Hinks, or
High-jinks, our decker, had grown up in so she pretended he was her
kid (named him Martin and everything). He wound up spending a lot of
time staying at her uncle's who was a retired Knight Errant beat cop
so he got to learn a whole whack-lode of stuff most runners spend
money to learn. Year three he'd picked up enough tricks that we
started using him on the runs where we needed someone sweet and
innocent since no one ever suspects a kid of screwing them over and I
had always had trouble with playing sweet and Innocent. Kid had a real
gift for the con. My guess is it came from acting like whoever he
needed to to survive his whole life. When he wasn't with us he usually
stayed in the safe house, though he would sometimes go out and play
with the neighbourhood street kids. Year four. the last year he was
with us. It was going well, bout the same as the previous one only we
had gradually started too up the size of his rolls in the runs. So ya
all going smoothly. then in mid August we had an offer to do this huge
run, a bit of smash and grab, a bit of espionage, and a lot of risk.
Course we didn't want to expose the kid to a job this big or
potentially messy so we left him with an old Friend of Nico's, One
sister Rachel. she ran a children's shelter down in Olympia. That's
the last I ever saw of him. Since what was supposed to be our big
money run went south. I'm pretty sure it was a setup but I never did
find out who it was that could have rigged it. Ether way that's as
much as I know and I doubt the rest of the team will be much help
since most of them are six feet under now. Bering that in mind I'd
like the rest of my new identity now since who ever knocked off
Jackelyn and Grigore has probably figured out who I am and could be
coming for me next....

Part 3. (told from the perspective of sister Rachel) targets
