ABOUT GAMORREA

Gamorrea is located in the north west pacific ocean, far form shipping routes in the heart of the Dragon's Triangle. The Dragon's Triangle is the Pacific Ocean's equivalent of the Atlantic Ocean's Devil's Triangle. Extending from Yokohama Japan to the Mariana Islands and Guam this area has seen as many, if not more, wrecks and mysterious disappearances as The Devil's Triangle. The Japanese call this area Ma-no Umi: the Sea of the Devil.

Hundreds of ships of all sizes have vanished within this Triangle including military ships, armed nuclear submarines, research and scientific expeditions, and even tankers - one over 200,000 tons. Moreover, the vessels have disappeared without any trace of shipwreck flotsam; in calm seas; without any distress messages and with remarkably few survivors, none of whom can explain exactly what happened to them. Planes, too, have vanished - including three US military aircraft in a period of ten days.

Why do pilots flying over the Triangle report strange mists and a disorienting sense of accelerated time? What causes the ocean current in the Dragon's Sea to create three-sided waves? And why was this section of the Pacific designated a Danger Zone' by the Japanese government, even before the Awakening? If anyone knows, they are not telling.

Weather is suspected in these vanishings as the area is known for quick, violent storms. Other ships have been found abandoned with no crew to be found and the ship in good shape. Some attribute these events to volcanic activity for several land masses have risen and sunk back below the waves in The Dragon's Triangle. Things here have only gotten worse since 2021.

Gamorrea was one such island. A volcanic island, it was one of many to rise during the Awakening of the world in 2021. The volcano only surfaced up a pre-existing underwater seamount however. This seamount contained an underground kaer from the 4th age into which horrors had been sealed.

A nuclear submarine ran aground on volcanic shoals here just before the Awakening in 2011, cracking its reactor before sinking to the sea bed. Despite cleanup efforts by the US navy, the ensuing radioactive fallout caused the area to be sealed off for public safety. But smugglers continued to use routes nearby to evade maritime powers as they plied thier trade.

In 2030, the island was claimed as a lair by the great dragon Creythis, an eastern dragon who flew off from Guam and landed on this remote spot far from human habitation. Creythis immediately realized that the island was a font of mana, with mana levels double that of the surrounding areas. His investigation eventually uncovered an ancient sealed Kaer buried in the rock of the south-east coast of the island.

True Earth about the kaer meant to keep out the Horrors had instead sealed them in with the population, but millenia later a handful of Horrors survived with a foothold in this world through their possession and corruption of a few survivors. When the great dragon Creythis unearthed the kaer, the Horror Ysgolthesis touched Creythis, and claimed the dragon for his own, fending off the other horrors and saving Creythis's life. Together the two were far stronger than either apart, so the dragon agreed to a partnership of sorts, not realizing that he had already been corrupted by the horror and was under its manipulation.

The island is constantly cloud covered and storms large and small cluster about it, screening the area about it from both satellites & the sun. This cloud cover was partly natural (as said before, typhoon rich) but Creythis & Ysgolthesis used a powerful magical ritual to bind dark clouds about the island after their partnership to increase their own powers. The magic keeps the island cloud covered but storm free, while the waters about it remain whipped into a deadly frenzy by storms & typhoons.

Creythis and Ysgolthesis created the magic constrained weather, then set about building their kingdom. Creythis settled on the east coast of the island, building a lair far from the horror infested kaer.

The kaer had a library which contained much ancient information - including information about spirits and their true names. Artifacts and scrolls from the library were transferred to Creythis's lair. With this potent knowledge, Creythis & Ysgolthesis were able to enslave a host of spirits and set them to work towards their ends. The spirit created wealth bought technology and resources. Slave labor was brought from the island of Yomi to Gamorrea. Scareis - a mechanickal horror - was forced to create the first of the Bonemechs & Hellborg from the most rebellious of these slaves.

Those with magical potential were taken away and trained in the magical arts by Creythis, forming the Sanguisaav Order. The initiates of the order were taught blood magic and sacrifice metamagic by the horror Ysgolthesis. Lower level initiates formed a protective guard for Creythis while the highest level initiates engaged in the gathering of power via blood magic rituals and captured and harnessed spirits. Uninitated destined for training and initiation into the ranks of the Sanguisaav form a legion of house troops and guards for the city that grew up about Creythis's lair.

Some of the slaves managed to escape from the factories and holding cells, but were unable to get off of the island. It wasn't long before a small group found an entrance to the kaer. Seeking safety and shelter within they were taken by the Horror Scareis, who formed the religious cult of the Scarens to worship and serve him.

Scareis gifted the Scarens with the knowledge of cybermancy and sent them back to the factories to smuggle needed technology and supplies back to the kaer. With corrupted spirits, Scareis obtain and modify sea-craft for his Scarens and sent them into the world to bring back technology, supplies, and new recruits. These Scaren ships with their implanted, cybermantic whale propulsion and rusting blackened metal hulls gave rise to rumors of ghost ships on the Pacific. The cybermantic rituals would kill his worshipers in only a few years time, so Scareis had them scour the world for the infected, bringing back vampires, bain sidh, ghouls, goblins and more to Gamorea for experimentation. Three years Scareis worked in secret before Ysgolthesis discovered the burgeoning Scaren population and reported it to Creythis.

The Scarens had numbers and technology enough to be a threat even with Creythis's Hellborgs & Sanguisaav Order. So Ysgolthesis had Creythis secretly recruit allies in the form of Ordo Maximus, granting vampire lords land on the island of eternal darkness. The vampire lords were wary at first, but soon found the lure of knowledge and a secure holding too much to resist. The discovery of Scareis's experimental vampire subjects forever instilled distrust of the Horror in the vampires, and Creythis had his ally. With the vampire lords, Creythis had more than enough power to crush Scareis and his Scarens, so an uneasy truce developed between the three powers.

Scareis had the edge in cybermancy and the workings of machinery, so it wasn't long before Scaren techs were contracted out to both the Vampire lords and Creythis for the creation of new abominations. With the loss of their captured vampires, the Scarens themsleves were dependent upon the vampire lords for the HMHVV infected blood they needed in their rituals to create new Scarans. Both Vampires and Scarens were dependent upon Creythis & Ysgolthesis to maintain the magickal shield of clouds over the island.

Gamorrea is a roughly spiral shaped island. The north-eastern half of the island is dominated by the volcanic mountain. At the southern, central highland is situated Creythis's lair & the City of Shadows, where the vampire lords maintain their embassies to Creythis. East of this, beneath a connected piece of hilly land, is the original kaer which has become the Scaren city. The western arm of the island comprises The Great Market. The market is surrounded by a warren of ramshackle homes built one atop another amidst great ravines rent in the island when it rose via volcanic forces. This area is inhabited by a variety of metahumans and cast-offs. Notably humans, orks, dwarves, trolls, skaven, and goblins. The volcanic ridges that flank these ravines extend out in natural fingers of rock that have been crafted into a forest of docks for the ships that call at this port. A hole blasted in the barrier reef admits ships to the island. The hole is flanked by a pair of magically constructed stone towers bristling with stone gargoyles, sensors and not-so subtly concealed weaponry.
